Burger Bowls: Family Friendly and Fully Customizable

If you love burgers but want something lighter, faster, or more adaptable for different diets, burger bowls are the answer. They are super easy to throw together, and everyone can build their own bowl exactly how they like it. Perfect for busy weeknights, meal prep, or feeding a family with different preferences.

Whether you’re eating low-carb, gluten-free, dairy-free, or just trying to use what you have in the fridge, burger bowls make it easy.

Assemble the Bowls

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 6 cups chopped lettuce (or base of choice)
  • Assorted toppings (see above)
  • Burger sauce (click for recipe)

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef:
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease if desired. (I like to add in my diced onion to cook with the ground beef)
  2. Prepare the base:
Divide lettuce or chosen base among four bowls.
  3. Assemble:
Top each bowl with cooked beef and desired toppings.
  4. Drizzle & serve:
Finish with burger sauce and serve.

Tips:

  • Divide lettuce into bags or prep containers when meal prepping so you can re-heat the meat without wilting the lettuce
  • Use frozen diced potatoes for your base to save even more time
  • Store any homemade sauces in a reusable squeeze bottle to drizzle over your bowl
  • Cook meat ahead and store up to 4 days
